Deitra Hoang is a student at the University of Pennsylvania majoring in International Relations. Her interest in the environment began with the state she grew up in, where she was able to frequent beaches and natural reserves protected under law. Born and raised in San Jose, California, Deitra served as the Chairperson and District 3 Commissioner of her city's Youth Commission. In this role, she advocated for climate equity for underserved communities and youth-led initiatives that aligned with the city's Climate Smart plan.
On the West Coast, Deitra loves driving down Highway 1, exploring hiking trails, and going out with friends. In Philly, she enjoys volunteering with the Free Library of Philadelphia and going to Chinatown for her favorite bakery (and maybe a little cafe-hopping!). Having worked in advisory settings, Deitra is excited to work in policy analysis with Saving the Sea and research topics that prioritize sustainability agendas.
