Founder & President

Shant Ispendjian

Shant Ispendjian is a student at Brown University studying International and Public Affairs alongside Environmental Science, and the Founder and President of Saving the Sea. He launched the organization in early 2022 after discovering a deep commitment to environmental advocacy and sustainability, and has since grown it into a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Today, Shant leads Saving the Sea's strategic focus on policy research and legislative engagement, driving much of the organization's work at the federal level.

Beyond Saving the Sea, Shant has pursued a serious interest in politics and public policy, interning in both the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives for Senator Adam Schiff and Congressman Gabe Amo. He has also worked directly on environmental policy as an Environmental Policy intern at the Northeast-Midwest Institute in Washington, D.C. He looks forward to continuing to work alongside an extraordinary team of student leaders to advance bold, youth-led environmental change.
